Once initially installed, the kayak adapter attaches to the Ski Erg2 in less than one minute! The switch back to the skiing mode takes less than one minute as well.

The kayak adapter is a great training tool. The seating position and stroke mechanics are good and it benefits from the massive R&D that has gone into the design of Concept2’s ergonometric components (the monitor and the flywheel). On top of that you two have training gadgets: you can switch between ski and paddle mode in just a few seconds. It looks complicated with the pulleys running up and down but is actually very simple to set up and works very well.
Of course one can also talk about the generic benefits of an indoor training in terms of convenience, ability to do a workout without the time of getting to the river, ability to paddle when the rivers are frozen, ability to isolate and work on aspects of stroke mechanics in a predictable environment.
