Now living in Waitsfield, VT, Luc offers a picture of his training "back in the day" and today... "My first pro race was in Mt Laurier, QC, in 1965. I raced until 1980. I am now 77 years old, and planning to do a few races in the spring after being away from the sport for 39 years... The big one will be the 70 miles General Clinton Canoe Regatta, Cooperstown to Bainbridge, NY, at the end of May. “In my days”, for January and February, I made a hole in the ice, sat on a very low seat, and paddled for 5 to 6 hours per week. Times have changed!" I have been using the Concept 2 Rowing Machine with the Paddling attachment since 6 weeks. At first, I was a bit skeptical about its similarity to paddling a canoe, but I quickly changed my mind. Now, I cannot think of anything better for training the paddling muscles aerobically and anaerobically. I can train very smartly with the computer in front of me, displaying the distance, the watts, the cadence, and so much more... I can work on my stroke: power, technique, smoothness and efficiency. As a training device, I am still amazed at how much I benefit from training on the Concept 2 Paddling Machine. I recommend it for any serious paddler.
