Very Important Maintenance Message!

The axle in the front mast trolley is highly polished hardened carbon steel. It will corrode if it is left outdoors or in damp or humid conditions or if cleaners containing water, bleach, alcohol, or detergents are used to clean or maintain its shiny surface. The best way to maintain the axle is to clean off any buildup of foreign material such as dust that combines with maintenance oil to form a dark grimy consistency. This buildup can be best removed using a penetrating oil such as WD-40 in combination with a clean cloth rag and then recoating the axle with a lightweight oil. Any 20-weight oil like 3-In-One will work fine. Apply a liberal amount of oil to a dry rag and then wipe down the axle with the oily rag.  If any corrosion does show up on the axle address it immediately using a penetrating oil in combination with a nylon scratch pad like Scotch-Brite to remove the corrosion. Do not use any cleaning agents such as Fantastic, glass cleaner, etc. on it.   If you are in a particularly humid part of the world, this is even more important.   The paddling adapter is not designed for outdoor use (even under cover).  If you follow these maintenance steps you will get many years of service out of your paddling adapter.  Please note that the axle is not covered under our warranty.
